Satori Africa was born through an idea dreamed up in the heart of the Cape Winelands – the epicurean epicenter of South Africa and one of the most relaxed of settings from which to really let the healing power of Africa envelop you.

Satori Africa is passionate about Southern Africa and its people, the exceptional food and wine, wellness and the beauty of travel. It is little surprise then that the very dream was to create experiences for guests to come to the southern tip of Africa and embrace in what makes us, at Satori, tick.

Turning the dream in to reality!

On a personal level, as the founder of Satori Africa, the journey to reaching this point where I am at now sitting here and writing the first ever blog post has been such a magical one. After possibly a few too many years spent in advertising, I always knew that it was hospitality that was in my blood. With the amazing support of family and friends I decided to quit my job and throw myself, not in to the proverbial deep end, but literally in to the boiling pot of water and commence my studies in becoming a qualified chef.

After graduation I took the opportunity presented by one of the top safari lodges to join their ‘family’ and manage one of their esteemed Relais & Chateaux lodges. After an inspiring journey in the bush, forging lifelong friendships with guests and staff alike, it was the slopes of Cape Town that was strongly calling me back again.

Before taking up my next role as Project Manager for the launch of a boutique hotel that frequently achieves top accolades around the world, I also completed my level 2 qualification with the Wine & Spirits’ Educational Trust (WSET).

Upon completion of my contract I was really blessed to join the biggest family-owned wine farm in South Africa, heading up the brand side for the farm. This was where the dream of Satori Africa was born and after completing  my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training course through Yoga Alliance and a few supportive kicks, the dream became a reality!

If you have read this far, I suppose it comes as no surprise as to where the idea to open up a travel business representing Southern Africa came from, especially with a strong focus on the most exclusive epicurean and wellness experiences.

The meaning of Satori.

Satori can be roughly translated to mean enlightenment or awakening.

The name Satori Africa is inspired by the beautiful restorative power and healing nature of the African continent. This land lends itself to a holiday of sheer relaxation, indulgence, and restoration.

Mother Nature was in a particularly generous mood when blessing Africa with breath-taking sunsets, the crisp salty refreshing air of the Atlantic Ocean, produce of unbridled goodness and abundance, mountains of staggering proportions, thriving wildlife and rolling gold savannah grasslands.

The Satori Africa logo is inspired by the beautiful Baobab tree, a tree that is distinctly African. Affectionately known as the ‘Upside Down’ Tree, the Baobab plays a part in almost all African folklore and provides shelter and food for man and animal alike. For us, the Baobab reflects Africa, our home!

Traveling with Satori Africa promises to deliver beyond the realms of any other travel memories.

Welcome!

We look forward to welcoming you soon!
